txrian: what does INFP stand for?

infp-problems:

INFP is one of the sixteen Myers-Briggs personality types and it stands for Introverted iNtuitive Feeling Perceiving. In short, it means we are introverted idealists who most often make decisions and deal with the world based on how we’re feeling. We’re extremely intuitive, big-hearted dreamers and more often than not are extremely talented in some artistic form.

Some famous INFPs:

  • Writers: JRR Tolkien, JK Rowling, JD Salinger, Sylvia Plath, Beatrix Potter, Edgar Allen Poe, Shakespeare
  • Actors/directors: Audrey Hepburn, Zooey Deschanel, Tim Burton, Johnny Depp, Michelle Williams, Heath Ledger
  • Musicians: John Lennon, Anaïs Nin, Fiona Apple, Kurt Cobain, Bjork, Andrew Vanwyngarden
  • Characters: Calvin (from Calvin & Hobbes), Belle (Beauty & the Beast), Anne of Green Gables, Charlie (Perks of Being A Wallflower), Holden Caulfield (Catcher in the Rye), Chris McCandless (Into the Wild), Alice (in Wonderland)

You can read more about it here or here, and if you haven’t taken a MBTI test, take it here (72 questions) or here (102 questions). (If someone knows a better free online source to take the test, please throw a link in my ask and I’ll post it for the benefit of the public.)

Hope this helps. (:

beinginfp:

I’ve always had to make the choice between reality and fantasy, and I’ve almost always chosen fantasy. But I’m arriving at a point in my life when I need to accept reality in order to survive and move forward. I am slowly realising more and more that I can’t childishly escape into my ideals to…

I can totally relate to this. My parents said they saw a visible “change” in my personality when I hit 22. I seemed to wake up out of fantasy land and everything was just not as beautiful as I had imagined my entire life. Now I try not to focus on the mundane and let my mind continue the beauty through my art and writing. I think creative outlets are the only way for an INFP to cope with the loss of that deep well of beauty, ideals, dreams and wonder in our hearts.
